Exciting Partnership with the American Federation for the Blind

June 05, 2025
This afternoon I had a great phone meeting with Melody Goodspeed with the American Federation for the Blind.  We have a strategic partnership where we are working together to educate donors through podcasts on topic such as planned giving and legacy planning.  In April, I was honored to attend the Helen Keller Awards in New York, and was very impressed by the level of support that AFB extends to the blind and the accomplishments of the award recipients.  In addition, Mattel was there to unveil the latest Blind Barbie.  Here are some photo highlights from the Helen Keller Awards during the month of June.

The 2025 Helen Keller Achievement Awards (HKAA) was an evening dedicated to honoring true Champions of Change who are leading the way toward full inclusion and equal opportunity for people who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision. This prestigious event took place on April 24th, 2025, at the historic New York Yacht Club in the heart of Manhattan.

Since its founding in 1994, this annual event has celebrated individuals and organizations whose transformative work has significantly impacted the lives of people with disabilities. In 2025, we honored our awardees whose achievements inspire progress and drive meaningful change. View some photos from the event below!
